How do I use the franchise screener?+
Set one or more filters above (rating, max investment, min revenue, SBA charge-off rate, unit count, or category) and click Screen. The results table shows every brand that matches your criteria, sorted by your chosen metric. You can re-sort by clicking the sort links above the table.
What data is the screener based on?+
All screener data comes from two public sources: Franchise Disclosure Documents (FDDs) filed with state regulators, and SBA 7(a) loan records released under FOIA. Investment ranges, revenue figures, and unit counts are extracted from FDD Items 5, 7, 19, and 20. Charge-off rates are calculated from resolved SBA loans.
Can I save or export my results?+
Yes. Every set of filters produces a unique URL you can bookmark or share. Click the share button next to the results count to copy the link. You can also export the current results as a CSV file using the export button above the table.
How often is the data updated?+
FDD data is refreshed annually as franchisors file updated disclosures with state regulators. SBA 7(a) loan data is updated quarterly when the SBA publishes new FOIA datasets. Each brand page shows the FDD year it was extracted from.
