We collect almost nothing.

What we collect

• Nothing on browse. No account is required to read brand pages, financial data, SBA loan stats, the matrix, or any ranking.
• Standard server logs (IP address, user agent, requested URL) for 30 days, used only for debugging and abuse prevention. Never sold.
• Email address only if you subscribe to our monthly newsletter. One-click unsubscribe in every issue.
• Stripe payment records when you purchase a $49 brand-contacts unlock. Stripe handles card data; we store the charge ID and the email you provide at checkout, plus which brand you unlocked.

What we will never do

• Sell your contact information to franchisors. This is the line that defines us against franchise lead-gen portals.
• Pass your search history to brands you researched.
• Track you across other sites with third-party advertising pixels.
• Require an account to view free data.

Cookies & analytics

We use PostHog for privacy-respecting product analytics (hosted in the US, no ad tracking), Vercel Analytics for anonymized page-view counts, and Sentry for error monitoring. We do not run advertising trackers, retargeting pixels, or sell your data to third parties.

PostHog sets a first-party cookie to distinguish returning visits. You can opt out of analytics by enabling Do Not Track in your browser. Stripe, our payment processor, may set cookies for fraud prevention. Stripe Privacy Policy.

If you sign in with Google, we request only your basic profile (name, email address, and profile picture) to create and recognize your account. We never request access to Gmail, Drive, Contacts, or any other Google data, and our use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

Your rights

If you are in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or a jurisdiction with similar data protection laws, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Request a portable copy of your data
• Object to processing of your data

California residents (CCPA / CPRA)

If you live in California, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act gives you the rights below in addition to those above. In the twelve months before the date at the top of this page we collected these categories of personal information: identifiers (your email address and, if you sign in with Google, your name), commercial information (the brands and products you purchased, handled by Stripe), and internet activity (pages viewed and searches, through our analytics). We use them to provide the service, process purchases, and improve the site.

• We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. There is no advertising pixel on this site.
• Right to know what personal information we have collected about you, and to receive a copy.
• Right to delete it, and right to correct it.
• Right to limit the use of sensitive personal information (we do not collect any).
• Right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

To exercise them, email privacy@franchiseverdict.com from the address on your account, or have an authorized agent do so with your written permission. We verify requests against the account email and respond within 45 days.

The franchisee names and phone numbers in our contact lists come from franchisors' public Item 20 disclosures. If you are a franchisee listed there and want your listing removed from our lists, email the same address.
